Imagining Future Bodies on esitys, jossa yli 60-vuotiaista kuopiolaisista koostuva osallistujajoukko jakaa yleisölle kokemuksellista matkaansa tulevaisuuden Kuopioon. Imagining Future Bodies -esitys oli osa ANTI-festivaalin ohjelmistoa viime syksynä. Tänä keväänä esitys saa uuden muodon ja yleisön, kun teos vierailee kuopiolaisissa palvelukeskuksissa. Esiintyjät ovat tutkineet kaupunkitilaa ja elinympäristöjään sekä näihin liittyviä tulevaisuuden unelmia ja tarpeita. Työssä keskeistä on ollut syvällinen ja radikaali kuunteleminen, yhteiskuvittelu ja moniaistisen lähestymistavan hyödyntäminen. Palvelukeskuskiertueella ryhmä tuo näkyväksi erilaisia tulevaisuuden materiaaleja, äänimaailmoja, kehollisia maisemia ja ympäristöjä. Esitykset toteutetaan yhteistyössä Kuopion kaupungin kanssa. Shared Futures: Imagining Future Bodies on tour at service centers
Imagining Future Bodies is a performance in which a group of participants consisting of people from Kuopio over 60 years of age share their experiential journey to the future of Kuopio with the audience.
Imagining Future Bodiespremiered at ANTI Festival 2022 and now the working group will go on tour at local service centers.
The performers have explored the urban space and their habitats, as well as their dreams and hopes of the future. Deep and radical listening, co-imagining and utilizing a multi-sensory approach have been central to the work. On the service center tour, the group brings different future materials, sound worlds, bodily landscapes and environments to light.
This year has gone so fast and it is time to wrap up things before the Holidays. This year has been a lot about dialogue and sharing with two new large-scale projects and some smaller ones. In each one of them, I was connecting with something new and drawing + listening as carefully as possible.
This year I have worked together with a Ringette – team, 60 + people, Sociology students at Turku University, art students, art lovers of many kinds, the KSL Civic Association for Adult Learning, artists, researchers as well as with my kid and AI. Maybe it is needless to say that I am curious and love the dialogue. Looking back at things that happened this year, it certainly is a privilege for me to be able to do these things. Thinking about how difficult times we are experiencing, I am so happy to see that there still is a possibility for sharing, trust and inspiration. I am glad that so many thinkers, makers and associations have been reaching out to ask me to collaborate! Please do, I am more than happy to continue sharing practice, opening dialogue, connecting and listening through art.
There are still some things happening in Kuopio this year. So, if you are here please go and see what´s written below. If you are not in Kuopio or in Finland, I am more than happy to tell you that these projects seem to have a life of their own, so you might be able to experience some of it the following year out of my home city.
I will be sharing also something new right before Christmas. So stay tuned for a couple of weeks more! Until then, I wish you a peaceful and inspiring December!

My new audiovisual installation Voiko Sinne Sukeltaa? is part of the 70th-anniversary exhibition of the Iisalmi Seudun Kuvataideseura ry. The exhibition RAHTU HIEKKAA, VETTÄ JA TAIVASTA is open until 31.12.2022.
I created there a piece that was inspired by outer space, a dialogue with my child who was learning to use words and the capability to connect with something that is far away, almost unreachable.
Roberto Fusco and I were showing our piece The chance that makes what we are at Kuopio Art Museum this summer. It was great to bring this piece alive in my home city!
Go and see what is going on at the GalleriA. It is a collaborative gallery of the Kuopio Art Museum and the Kuopio Kuvataiteilijat ry – Ars Libera which operates on the premises of the Kuopio Art Museum. The gallery, which focuses on Northern Savoland visual art, is free of exhibition rent for artists and free of admission for visitors. GalleriA’s goal is to diversify the art that is viewed in Northern Savonia. GalleriA was opened this summer.
Tervetuloa pohtimaan ja tunnustelemaan tulevaisuutta. Millaisen kaupungin ja maailman haluaisimme jälkipolville jättää?
Jaettu tulevaisuus -työpajat on suunniteltu 65-75-vuotiaille, mutta kaikki +60-vuotiaat ovat tervetulleita mukaan. Työpajoissa tutkitaan kotikaupunkia, sen herättämiä muistoja ja tuntua.
Kävely, piirtäminen, tunnustelu, liike sekä ääni johdattavat meidät matkalle omaan kaupunkiimme ja toiveisiin sen tulevaisuudesta. Hyödynnämme työssä tuttuja ja tuntemattomia karttoja sekä toteutamme uusia. Työpajoissa tutustumme myös nykyteknologian tarjoamiin mahdollisuuksiin hahmottaa ja tutkia maailmaa.
Yhdessä pohdimme millainen olisi unelmien tulevaisuus ja mitä voimme oppia kuuntelemalla toisiamme ja elinympäristöä tarkasti kaikki aistit avoinna?

TOUCH BAR
Freelance-tanssitaiteilija Anna-Maria Väisänen on tutkinut työssään erilaisia tapoja koskettaa viimeisen kahdeksan vuoden ajan, fyysinen kosketus ihmisten välillä on ollut osa hänen praktiikkaansa koronaviruspandemiaan saakka.
TOUCH BAR on kokeellinen sarja kahdenkeskisiä kohtaamisia, joissa tutkitaan kosketusta ilman fyysistä kontaktia. Kosketuksen välineinä käytetään erilaisia artefakteja, joita Väisänen tutkii syksyn 2021 aikana. Kokija / osallistuja määrittää taiteilijan kanssa omat rajansa kohtaamiselle. TOUCH BAR on tila jossa pysähdytään kuuntelemaan, herkistämään aisteja, luomaan yhteistä rituaalia, tutkimaan kosketusta, katsomaan ja katsomisen kautta löytämään mahdollisuutta koskettaa tai tulla kosketetuksi. Jaettu tila muovautuu kunkin kokijan kanssa, kahdenkeskiseen kohtaamiseen otetaan yksi osallistuja kerrallaan.
TOUCH BAR on konsepti ja tila joka tutkii pehmeyttä, laskeutumista ja dialogia ihmisten ja esineiden välillä Galleria Ars Liberassa 27.10.–5.11.2021.
TOUCH ME
Taiteilijat Anna-Maria Väisänen ja Emma Fält jatkavat dialogista työskentelyään kohtaamisen, kosketuksen, piirretyn viivan, koreografian, komposition, paikka- ja tilannesidonnaisen taiteen rajoilla. Työskentelyn keskiössä on jaetun intiimin hetken tutkiminen ilman puhetta. Väisänen ja Fält tutkivat yhdessä erilaisista kosketuksista muodostuvaa äänimaailmaa Galleria Ars Liberan residenssissä 8.–13.11.2021.
Fält ja Väisänen työstävät parhaillaan laajempaa, pitkäkestoista livetaiteen projektia, joka tutkii unelmien ja utopioiden kartoittamista sekä tutkii unelmointia ja mielikuvitusta. Taiteilijat avaavat työskentelyään yleisölle Galleria Ars Liberassa 12.–13.11.2021.

TOUCH BAR
Freelance dance artist Anna-Maria Väisänen has studied different ways of touching in her work for the past eight years, physical contact between people has been part of her practice until the coronavirus pandemic.
TOUCH BAR is a concept and space that explores softness, descent, and human dialogue between people and objects. TOUCH BAR is an experimental series of one-on-one encounters that explore touch without physical contact. Various artifacts are used as instruments of touch, which Väisänen will study during the residency.
The experiencer / participant sets their own boundaries for the encounter with the artist. TOUCH BAR is a space where you stop to listen, sensitise the senses, create a common ritual, explore touch, look and – through looking – find an opportunity to touch or become touched. The shared space takes shape with each experiencer, one participant at a time is taken into a two-way encounter.
TOUCH BAR is a concept and a space that explores softness, descent and dialogue between people and objects at Galleria Ars Libera from the 27th of October until the 5th of November 2021.
TOUCH ME
Anna-Maria Väisänen and multidisciplinary artist Emma Fält continue working in dialogue on the interfaces of meeting, touch, drawing, choreography, composition and site-specific art. Central to the work is the exploration of shared intimacy without speech. They will be working together in the residency of Galleria Ars Libera from the 8th until the 13th of November.
Väisänen and Fält are currently working on an extensive live art project that is mapping utopias and investigating the power of dreaming and imagination.
Väisänen and Fält will share their work with the audience on the 12th and 13th of November at Galleria Ars Libera.

It was a great pleasure to be one of the artists at GCLC Artist Lab at ANTI Contemporary Art Festival this year. I felt priviledged to just be at a live art festival now that every live event is a little miracle. Our project was about thinking about art work and making in a global world, the relationship of local/global. We were not only thinking about but also actively testing different ways of working from distance. We worked with international group of artists online and at the festival center in Kuopio City.

The Global City Local City lab brings together artists and curators whose work centers upon hyper-localised or locally-responsive approaches to place, responds to local sites, or engages with local histories, situations or conditions.

Global City Local City is a new international platform – initiated as a collaboration between ANTI Festival in Kuopio, Finland, Reykjavík Dance Festival in Iceland and The Map Consortium in the United Kingdom. After the Kuopio lab, we organise a lab in Reykjavík from November 10th to 21st 2020.
During the festival week, the lab artists and curators will open their process to public through discussion meetings and artistic interventions.
