Queer* Drawing -työryhmä kutsuu piirustus- ja runotyöpajaan, joka pohjaa jo yli vuoden yhdessä kokoontuneen, seksuaali- ja sukupuolivähemmistöille suunnatun taideryhmän yhteiseen toimintaan. Tapahtumaan voi osallistua KUMMAn pääsymaksun hinnalla 10/5€, alle 18-vuotiaat ilmaiseksi ja Museokortti käy maksuvälineeksi.
Työpajassa toteutetaan yhdessä suurta, liikelähtöistä piirrosta, johon kaikki voivat osallistua. Työssä keskeistä on vuorovaikutus: aktiivinen kuunteleminen ja hyväksyvä katse, sekä tilan antaminen ja yhdessä tekeminen. Tilassa koetaan yhteisen piirtämisen lisäksi myös ryhmän aiemmin tekemiä piirroksia, runoillaan tehtävien pohjalta vieraskirjaan ja kuullaan eri aikakausien queer – runoutta näyttelijä, Sari Harjun lukemana. Kokoelmassa kuullaan myös paikallisen Jupinaa – queer lavarunous – ryhmän runoja.
Kutsumme kaikki Kuopio Priden ja KUMMAn kävijät mukaan jättämään jälkensä yhteiseen piirrokseen, kuuntelemaan, kirjoittamaan sekä tunnelmoimaan ja levähtämään yhdessä ennen Pride -kulkuetta (klo 14) ja puistojuhlaa. Voit vierailla pajassa haluamasi ajan; viipyä vain hetken tai jäädä tilaan koko ajaksi.
Työpaja on suunnattu erityisesti nuorille ja aikuisille. Toteutettu teos ja tapahtuma dokumentoidaan.

The *Queer Drawing – group invites everyone to a drawing and poetry workshop, which builds on the joint activities of the art group aimed at sexual and gender minorities. The group has gathered together for over a year at Kuopio Museum to meet and draw.
The workshop will invite participants to do movement-based drawing prompts. The core of this workshop is interaction: active listening and an accepting gaze, giving space and concentrating on togetherness. In the space, visitors will also experience drawings created by the group, listen to queer poetry and short prose from different eras, read by actress Sari Harju. The collection also includes poems by the local Jupinaa—Queer stage poetry group.
We invite all visitors to Pride and the Art Museum to leave their mark on a joint drawing, listen, write, and get in the mood together before the Kuopio Pride parade and park festival. The workshop is specifically designed for young people and adults.
The completed work and event will be documented.

In the workshops aimed at adults, we explore the world by drawing and through various listening and sensing exercises. We reflect on physicality, diversity, being in different spaces and how we perceive ourselves in them. This spring, we will work on various listening exercises and think about the interaction between humans and non-humans. Let’s start the year by going through together what kind of workshops are coming up.
The key to working is interaction and the opportunity to create a space where those who perceive themselves as queer* can express themselves and get to know each other through making, as well as searching and finding suitable forms of artistic expression. Come along and bring your friends!
The workshops are free of charge for the participants. Previous knowledge or experience in artistic work, neither tools arent required. The age limit for the workshops is 18 years.

In 1971, an artist pinned a peanut on a gallery wall. The peanut’s shadow formed the outline of a cloud. The work was titled “Cloud and shadow”. Every time I hold a peanut shell in my hand, I recall this poetic gesture. I was born in 1985. Is there anything real in my memory of that performance?
One shared quality between performance and memory is imperfection. Both are an unfortunate search for an original which is no longer accessible. Both often use prompts to recall the initial event. This year, in the frame of Moving In November, Reality Research Center explores the relation between performance, documentation, reality and memory.
To that end, RRC’s members artists Emma Fält and Alina Sakko are invited to remember two performances from the Moving in November festival in 2022 by RRC’s members without having witnessed them: Tuomas Laitinen’s Audience Body and Matilda Aaltonen’s and Veli Lehtovaara’s Performing Animalities – A Praxis. Is it possible to remember a performance without having experienced it?
A cloud and its shadow is a three-stop journey that revisits the various ways and places in which the memory of each performance may bring us together during the festival: Alina’s performance gesture recalling Performing Animalities – A Praxis, the day’s Soup Talk organised by Moving In November, and Emma’s performance gesture conjuring the Audience Body.
Note: “Cloud and shadow” was the work of Marina Abramovic from the exhibition “Little things”.

Reality Research Center (RRC), founded in 2001, is a Helsinki-based collective of artists with the shared aspiration to observe, question, and renew reality through performance. RRC believes that art opens the spectrum of reality. Performances are both the tool and the outcome of our research. Every year RRC produces several projects that challenge and expand not only the prevailing concept of reality, but also the borders and definitions of Live art.
Emma Vilina Fält is a multidisciplinary artist working in diverse working groups with drawing, installation, performing arts, and participatory practices. Their main interests are listening, contact and togetherness that unfold through the act of dialogue and drawing. Fält is inspired by bodies, their boundaries, and ways to connect with the world. They seek to expand and stretch the understanding of drawing, the ways to present it and research reality through the acts of drawing.
Alina Sakko is a dance artist interested in researching the accessibility of contemporary dance on experiential and conceptual levels. Through choreography and performance practice, she explores and wishes to share the bodily experience of presence. She dances between the concrete and the abstract, visiting recognisable imagery and poetic landscapes, playing with elements of spectacle. She is interested in kinesthetic empathy as a possibility for dialogue.

In the workshops we will do many different kinds of practices, drawing, moving in the museum space & in the city, and exploring the living environment with our senses. All the materials needed will be included in the workshops and provided by Kuopio City and myself.
I will also provide prompts that can be done at your own pace, in your own time. The work we do is planned for everyone and you don’t need to be specialised in arts to participate. Together we want to become active listeners, curious and creative in our ways of being in the world. That will be a lot of fun! At each workshop, we are working for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes and clean up the space together afterwards, before the museum is closed at 7 PM. The workshops are bilingual, so don’t worry about not knowing Finnish or English (languages used ) very well or at all. We are working in ways that are often non-verbal and also, I will simultaneously translate everything that is needed for everyone to understand what is happening. You can always share in the language that you feel comfortable with. Drawing Out Loud – Art workshops for gender and sexual minorities
In these art workshops for adults, we explore the world through various listening and sensing exercises and by drawing. We reflect on physicality, diversity, being in different spaces and how we perceive ourselves in them. During the workshops, everyone can create a small sketchbook of tasks that we have done independently and together.
The focus of the workshop is to create a space where those who perceive themselves as queer* can encounter, get to know each other and find new forms of artistic expression.
The workshops are free for participants. Previous artistic skills are not required. The age limit for the workshops is 18 and you can participate in both Finnish and English (knowledge of both languages is not required). Art supplies can be found on-site in the learning space of the Kuopio Museum.

The Wave Inthe Mind by artist duo Fusco and Fält continues their work that combines computation, analogue and digital technology, with traditional drawing and printing techniques. They have been exploring the physical and expressive properties of the water surface and sand, and in their latest installation The Wave in the Mind they are encountering storms from different perspectives. Modern sensor technology provided measured data for the simulation of a storm from 2004, while subjective accounts of the sea state found in ship journals provided means for a speculative reconstruction of a storm from ‘34.
The dark figures hovering in the space are covered with marks of the water movement, but they are more subtle and silent than gigantic waves.
The exhibition’s soundscape is composed of drawing sounds on different materials and human voices. These embodied attempts to follow and entrain with the waves use our sensuous bodies, instead of reductively measuring and calculating natural phenomena.
Roberto Fusco, b. 1980, is an Italian media artist based in Helsinki. His work, in the form of installations or audiovisual performances, combines material and digital elements towards the creation of hybrid forms in which the processes of negotiation with technology become manifest and the materiality of the world, with its complexity and unpredictability, transcends what is computable. He has presented his work at festivals such as Ars Pori 2022, Aavistus audiovisual biennial, ANTI festival, Blooming, LUX Helsinki, Mänttä Art Festival, Ars Electronica, VAFT, NIME, RIXC, FLUSSI, Currents New Media, Videoforma, PIXELACHE, AAVE, Borealis, Plektrum and in galleries such as Kuopio Art Museum, ArsLibera, Third Space, Titanik, Rajatila, MUU Galleria, the Science Gallery and EYEBEAM.
Emma Vilina Fält, b.1983 is a multidisciplinary artist working with drawing, installation, performing arts, and participatory practices. Her main interests are in live acts, contact and togetherness of drawing. Fält is inspired by the body, its boundaries, and possibilities to connect with the world. Fält seeks to expand and stretch the understanding of drawing and the ways to present it. Previously her work has been presented at Baltic Circle, Mänttä Art festival, ANTI-Contemporary Art Festival, ITAK – Stage, M_ITÄ Biennale, Kuopio Art Museum, MUU – and Third Space – galleries. She works as a director of Thinking through Drawing, an international group of drawing researchers.
