Shifting Sands

Monitaiteinen runo ja ruumiinavaus.

2021

Työryhmä: Konsepti Emma Fält, Inka Haatainen ja Roberto Fusco

Tilaääni: Andrea Mancianti

Esityspaikat: Itak – näyttämö, Kuopio & Yksin Sateessa Festivaali, Galleria Ahjo, Joensuu 2021

Fält on luon rakentanut soivat esineet, joiden pinnoilla

hiekkaa operoidaan ja äänimaisema tuotetaan. Kokonaisuus on inspiroitunut filosofi Delia Graff Faran työstä

epämääräisyyden-käsitteen parissa (Delia Graff: Shifting Sands: An Interest-Relative Theory of Vagueness. Princeton

University Press. 2000)

A homage to all the bodies, their vagueness, beauty, and ever-changing nature.  The soundscape of the piece is inspired and mainly implemented with sand, drawing in sand and using it in different ways. The material has been manipulated in studio space as well as in the live performance. Fält has built the sounding objects on stage and created the soundscape in collaboration with Fusco and Mancianti. Performance is inspired by the work of the philosopher Delia Graff Fara who worked rigorously with a concept of vagueness. (D.Graff: Shifting Sands, An Interest-Relative Theory on Vagueness. Princeton University Press 2000.)

This is a body that is moving alone, across the dried seafloor

considered inanimate

I did not understand it

as a body

but merely as an object

WE STARE AT

multiple bodies

so little

it is difficult to see each as one

Rather, they form complex entities

And we keep on staring at the

DETAILS

A heap

a body on the table is open

calculated and measured parts

Now, do understand and explain it

THROUGH

Some of them

bodies

moving in like waves

some frozen traces

that changed

over millions of years

recognize

Communicate through

TOUCH

This body

its limitations

Give chance

to receive

LISTEN TO

THE LINE

Becoming new

in all its vagueness

with all its ever-changing purposes

constantly

SHIFTING
